Rules — Grand Carnival Parade Competition 2026

The rules are now available to take part in the Grand Parade of the Santoña Carnival 2026, which will be held on February 14 at 7:00 p.m.

Group registrations must be submitted at the Santoña Town Hall Registry (ground floor) or through the electronic office from Wednesday, February 4 until Wednesday, February 11 at 12:00 p.m.

RULES

FIRST
Group registrations must be completed at the Santoña Town Hall Registry (ground floor) from Wednesday, February 4, 2026, to Wednesday, February 11, 2026, closing at 12:00 p.m.
All associations, clubs, murgas, etc. with a tax ID (CIF) are required, under Article 14.2 of Law 39/2015 of October 1 on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, to communicate via the electronic office.

SECOND
Registration must be completed using the official form provided by the Town Hall.

THIRD
To register and take part in the competition, each group must have a minimum of 10 members.

FOURTH
Groups entering the competition must parade and may be accompanied by anything that enhances their visual impact (figures, carts, props, floats, etc.).

FIFTH
The jury will be appointed by the Councillor for Festivities and will be located along the route near the former Brisas venue. Participating groups may perform a choreography in this area in front of the jury if they wish.
The jury will evaluate the following aspects when awarding prizes:

  • Costume design, craftsmanship, and overall work

  • Charisma and ability to entertain the audience during the parade

  • Originality of the costume, number of members, choreography, and overall impact on the public

SIXTH
Competition prizes:

  • First Prize: €1,000 + trophy

  • Second Prize: €500 + trophy

  • Third Prize: €300 + trophy

SEVENTH
Registration will be open from Wednesday, February 4, 2026, to Wednesday, February 11, 2026, closing at 12:00 p.m.
There will be no draw for the parade order. Positions will be assigned in reverse order of registration. This means the first group to register will receive number 1 and will be the last to parade (groups will march in reverse order, with number 1 closing the parade).

On the day of the parade, Saturday, February 14, late registrations will exceptionally be accepted from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the starting area (in front of Restaurante Napoleón, opposite the church). After this time, unregistered groups may parade but will not be eligible for the competition.
Groups registering last will open the parade.

EIGHTH
The Town Hall will provide each group with a visible number to wear during the route.
Any group that does not parade in its assigned position and with its number will be disqualified.

At the starting area, groups not entering the competition and other participants wishing to parade will line up in one lane of Calle O’Donnell, while registered competition groups must line up in the other lane for better organization.
Groups registering at the last minute must contact the organizers to provide their details and collect their number, which will place them among the first to parade (6:00–6:30 p.m.).

NINTH
If a group wins any prize, it cannot also receive the “Most Original” award.

TENTH
Once the Grand Parade has finished, the results and the presentation of the three prizes will take place on stage at Plaza de San Antonio.

ELEVENTH
Entering the Parade Competition implies acceptance of these rules.
