Rules for the 2025 Grand Carnival Parade Contest

The rules for participating in the Grand Carnival Parade of Santoña 2025, taking place on March 1st, are now available.

Rules

FIRST
Group registration must be done at the Santoña Town Hall Registry (ground floor) or via the electronic headquarters https://sedesantona.simplificacloud.com/ from Monday, February 10th, until Friday, February 21st, at 2:00 PM.

SECOND
Registration must be completed using the official form provided by the Town Hall.

THIRD
To register and participate in the contest, a group must have a minimum of 10 members.

FOURTH
Participating groups must parade in the event and may be accompanied by anything that enhances the group's visual appeal (puppets, carts, accessories, floats, etc.).

FIFTH
The jury will be selected by the President of the Festivities Council, or a delegated representative, and will be positioned along the parade route near Brisas. In this area, participating groups may perform a choreography in front of the jury if they wish.

The jury will evaluate the following criteria when awarding prizes:

  • Costume craftsmanship, design, and effort.
  • Charm and humor displayed during the parade, entertaining the audience.
  • The originality of the costume, group size, choreography, and overall impact on the audience.

SIXTH
The contest prizes are as follows:

  • First Prize – €1,000 + trophy
  • Second Prize – €500 + trophy
  • Third Prize – €300 + trophy

SEVENTH
The registration period will be from February 10th to Friday, February 21st. There will be NO draw for the parade order; instead, groups will be assigned positions in reverse order of registration. This means the first group to register will be number 1 and will be the last to parade (groups will march in reverse order, with group number 1 closing the parade).

On the day of the parade, Saturday, March 1st, late registrations will exceptionally be accepted from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the starting area (in front of Restaurante Napoleón, across from the church). After this time, unregistered groups may still parade but will not be eligible for the contest. The last registered groups will be the first to start the parade.

Unregistered groups may parade but will not participate in the contest.

EIGHTH
The Town Hall will provide a number to each group, which must be visibly displayed during the parade.
Any group that does not parade in its assigned position or with the correct number will be disqualified.

At the starting point, non-competing groups and individuals wishing to parade will be positioned in one lane of Calle O’Donnell, while competing and registered groups will use the other lane for better organization.

Groups registering at the last minute must report to the organizers to provide their details and collect their parade number, meaning they will be among the first to parade (6:00 PM - 6:30 PM).

NINTH
If a group wins any of the main prizes, it will NOT be eligible for the "Most Original" award.

TENTH
Once the Grand Parade concludes, the results will be announced, and the three prizes will be awarded on the stage at Plaza de San Antonio.

ELEVENTH
Participation in the Parade Contest implies acceptance of these rules.
