Santoña Receives the Diploma Recognizing its Carnival as a Festival of National Tourist Interest

The City Council received the award from the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu.

Today, at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Santoña has received the diploma that officially recognizes our Marinero Carnival as a Festival of National Tourist Interest.
Mayor Jesús Gullart, together with the Councilor for Tourism, Sara Lagarma, and the Councilor for Festivities, Vanesa San Emeterio, accepted this important recognition at a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu.

This achievement belongs to all the people of Santoña, thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of the clubs, groups, cultural associations, and neighbors who make our Carnival unique.
With this diploma, Santoña takes its place on the national map of major celebrations, strengthening our cultural and tourist projection.

On this very special day, the City Council wishes to pay heartfelt tribute to Agustín Ibáñez, recently deceased, who was the first to initiate the process for Santoña’s Carnival to obtain this recognition. Part of the documentation he prepared was fundamental in achieving the title we all celebrate today.

Congratulations, Santoña—this belongs to all of us!
